Marking the sad passing of two incredible teachers.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of two much-loved and inspirational former teachers, Mme Kris Tonnet and Ms Joan Bracken. Though very different in their approach, both left a lasting impact on Windermere School and the many students they taught.

Kris Tonnet, a dedicated French teacher in the 1980s and 90s, was the heart of the school for many. Even after her teaching years, she remained an active part of the Stannite community. Deb Dalzell, who was taught by Kris and now teaches French at Windermere School, shares: "Kris was a fantastic teacher to many and is the reason I am doing what I do. She really was a huge part of the school."

Joan Bracken, who taught at Windermere during the same period, quickly rose to become Head of Mathematics. Alongside her passion for teaching, she was a talented pianist, and her love for music continues to resonate through the school—her piano, still in the dining room, is played by pupils to this day. Janet McCallum, Head of Music, reflects: "Joan was a strong teacher, passionate about her subject and her pupils."

Both Mme Tonnet and Joan Bracken will be greatly missed, and their legacy will live on through the many pupils whose lives they shaped. We send our deepest condolences to their families.

If you have any memories of Kris or Joan, we would love for you to share them with us. 💙
