Dear Stannites
I wanted to update you on a staffing matter, explaining the recent changes in the Headship.
After Mr Lavender’s retirement the scene was set for his successor, Mr Griffiths, to join in September 2021. For personal reasons Mr Griffiths withdrew prior to his start date and Mr Hill was recruited in his stead. Mr Hill could not start until January 2022 and so the then Chairman Andrew Chamberlain asked that I step in as interim. Having fairly recently relinquished a headship it was a privilege and pleasure to step in for six months.
Mr Hill was then in post until Easter 2023. He joined the school from a leadership post in the United Arab Emirates and has opted to return there.
Throughout this period Mrs Jenny Davies has been Head of Elleray and has experience working at Browhead, leading on safeguarding and child protection matters. Her knowledge of the whole school and familiarity with so many children of all ages made her an ideal person to step in at short notice to the leadership role. The board supports Jenny and her team and the current arrangement is working well.
Advertisements have been placed for the post of Head and the Board will implement a selection process over the coming months. Once we have a decision and confirmation of a permanent appointment I will be in touch.
With kind regards
Mr Peter Hogan
